A week ago, ashes marked the foreheads of countless believers worldwide. Even those of us who didn’t participate in the traditions of Ash Wednesday have rolled our clocks forward to spring into a new season. Lente, the Middle English word for springtime, birthed the name of our current phase in the church calendar. Many denominations encourage fasting or other forms of sacrifice during this time leading to Holy Week. Whether we belong to a church practicing Lenten disciplines, this season can offer us an opportunity to prepare our hearts for Easter.
I prefer to consult the Holy Spirit in prayer to determine how I can best honor this season. The Lord knows me better than I know myself. And the journey to Resurrection Sunday is best traveled at his side and by his guidance.

Be Encouraged,
